Horticultural Therapy

Design proposal. Marbella, Spain

Urban gardens are ideal spaces for healing groups with special needs: children, adults, and the elderly.

Based on the shape of a ring or circle—symbolising nature’s cycles, continuity, and the universe—professionals from the social and healthcare sectors, certified occupational therapists, and psychologists will be able to design therapies tailored to each social group.

Public administrations must coordinate cross-cutting strategies involving healthcare, social services, parks and gardens, and urban planning. Accessibility is essential in this sensory space, which will also attract pollinators thanks to features such as insect hotels and nesting boxes included in our project.
