Les Jardins de l’Espoir

Apostolic Nunciature, Haiti

The Apostolic Nunciature garden in Port-au-Prince, with over 140 botanical species, features a splendid collection of orchids, bromeliads, and tropical palms, alongside forests of large trees such as mahogany and coffee plants beneath their canopy, as well as a revered rose garden with varieties from around the world. Additionally, over three years, we redesigned devotional gardens dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Infant Jesus of Prague, and Saint Francis, creating a unique encounter of Art, Nature, and Spirituality.

Thanks to the initiative of the Apostolic Nuncio, we realized a vital environmental project in a country with extremely high deforestation rates. By collecting seedlings that spontaneously sprouted after the rainy season and would disappear during droughts, we raised social awareness and found sponsors for over 600 trees. Funds raised supported social projects of the Nunciature, mitigating, among other issues, the effects of natural disasters such as Hurricane Matthew, which struck the island.
